CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

GENERAL ENSEMBLES

1st Period- Concert Men’s Chorus – UNAUDITIONED MEN, 9th-12th grade, 30+ singers

2nd Period-Concert Women’s Chorus – UNAUDITIONED WOMEN, 9th-12th grade, 70+ singers

The Concert Chorus classes are open to any student interested in singing in the LBHS Chorus, regardless of previous experience. Basics of vocal technique and musicianship skills will be emphasized, including music literacy, music theory, and music history. Students will perform a wide variety of choral literature and participate in all LBHS Chorus concerts and District Music Performance Assessment. After-school rehearsal expectations will be very limited and occur primarily before “Brantley on Broadway” in the spring.

 

ADVANCED ENSEMBLES

3rd Period- Spectrum Chamber Choir – AUDITIONED MEN AND WOMEN, 10th-12th grade, 20-30 singers

5th Period- Patriot Singers – AUDITIONED MEN AND WOMEN, 9th-12th grade, 50-70 singers

6th Period- Voices of Freedom – AUDITIONED WOMEN, 9th-12th grade, 50-70 singers

7th period- Bellissima Chamber Choir- AUDITIONED WOMEN, 10th-12th grade, 35-45 singers

The advanced ensembles of the LBHS Chorus are open to students of any grade by audition. Students auditioning will be expected to demonstrate excellence in citizenship and musicianship. Students will study advanced vocal techniques and musicianship skills while maintaining the highest levels of performance. Students will perform a wide variety of choral literature and will be encouraged to perform as soloists and in ensembles. Private voice lessons are strongly encouraged for all advanced singers. Students will participate in all LBHS Chorus concerts, District Music Performance Assessment, and other performance opportunities at the discretion of the director (may include: State MPA, Disney Candlelight Processional, Disney Resort Atmospheres, caroling, other special performances, etc.) After school rehearsal expectations will be limited and will occur as needed before performances. Students in their 3rd or 4th year of high school chorus and enrolled in an advanced ensemble will receive HONORS CREDIT.
